Tracks Investigations Turns 18

This month, Tracks Investigations celebrates 18 years of driving progress for animals worldwide. It’s a milestone that has given me time to reflect on the incredible journey so far.

Before founding Tracks in 2006, I spent years making documentaries for TV and working with organizations like CIWF and Cruelty Free International. During this time, I witnessed the unmatched power of investigations and visual media in advancing animal advocacy. These experiences inspired me to establish Tracks as a resource to help animal protection groups uncover and expose cruelty, influence public opinion, and drive real change.

Eighteen years later, I’m proud to say that Tracks has:

  • Worked in 58 countries

  • Completed over 300 investigative projects

  • Partnered with more than 40 animal protection organizations

The impact has been profound:

  • Helped secure bans on live exports in Australia

  • Played a key role in shutting down fur farms in Belgium and France, sparking a domino effect across Europe

  • Turned puppy smuggling into a major issue in the UK, with legislation now on the horizon

  • Freed wild animals from circuses in France and supported lasting legal reforms

  • Exposed the international trade in primates

  • Shone a light on the dog and cat meat trade in Southeast Asia

Our work has been seen by millions, raising public awareness, shifting attitudes, and helping shape corporate policies. I’ve witnessed a sea change in animal advocacy over the past 18 years. Investigations, once considered fringe or extreme, have now become mainstream, thanks to the efforts of many organizations—including our training of investigative teams.

While I initially planned to retire this year as I turned 60, my passion for this work hasn’t diminished. The need to keep uncovering injustice and advancing animal protection is as urgent as ever.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Tracks Investigations—our partners, collaborators, and the dedicated teams who have made this journey possible. Together, we’ve achieved remarkable progress for animals, and I’m excited to see what the next chapter will bring.

Here’s to continuing the fight for animals and making the world a better place.
